AARC - Falls Prevention

Course Description

This course addresses the population at greatest risk for falls, the significant healthcare issues caused by people falling, and the future impact on healthcare resources as the population at risk for falls continues to grow.  Prevention of falls requires assessment of the patient’s environment by the provider and caregivers to identify safety hazards, mobility obstacles, and lighting risks in the sleep center, their home or in another residence.  Recommendations to prevent falls in the work environment or an alternate care site used to perform sleep testing are identified.  Data published by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that is provided for the general public is referenced integrated to provide a comprehensive assessment of the care continuum of the patient.
